What does this particular child need? I have asked it in Reception classrooms and in Year 6, about children who couldn't hold a pencil and children who could read anything but wouldn't write a word.

You fill in a gentle questionnaire about your child, their school and what you have been noticing. Send anything you would like me to read — reports, a page of writing, notes from a meeting. If you have almost nothing, that is fine too.
I sit down with everything you have sent and consider the whole child: their learning, their confidence, what is happening at home and how school has responded so far. This part is never delegated.

Every Snapshot is written by me — the same person who taught primary classes for over twenty years, mentored trainee teachers and tutored privately by referral. Nothing is outsourced and nothing is templated.
Yes — and please don't feel awkward about it. Most parents who come to me have already been reassured at school, and it simply doesn't match what they see at home each evening. A Parent Concern Snapshot gives you an independent view of what might be going on, and tells you honestly whether it is worth pressing further.
No. I am a teacher, not a psychologist, so I don't diagnose and this isn't a statutory assessment. What you get is my professional opinion in writing: what I can see, what your child's strengths are, anything worth investigating and what I would do next if this were my child.
Not at all, and this matters to me. The Snapshot is built entirely from what you send me. Your child is never tested, observed or made to feel like the subject of an investigation — they need never know it happened.
A completed concerns questionnaire, and anything you'd like me to read: recent reports, a page or two of writing or maths, a reading record, notes from a meeting. If you have very little, send what you have — your own account of what you're noticing is the most valuable part.

Your report is with you within five working days of my having everything I need. If something is time-sensitive — a meeting, a deadline, a place to accept — tell me and I will do my best to work to your timescale.
Reception through to Year 6, including children preparing for the move to secondary school. I'm also happy to look at early years worries raised before a child has started school.
I will tell you gently, clearly and without drama, and I will name exactly who is best placed to look further — the school's SENDCo, an educational psychologist, a speech and language therapist or your GP. You will never be left holding a worry with nowhere to take it.
Only if you want me to. Many parents use the report themselves, as the calm, well-informed basis for their next conversation. If more is needed, I can help you word an email or come to a meeting with you.
A few lines is plenty to begin with. I read every message myself and reply personally, usually within two working days — and if I don't think a Parent Concern Snapshot is the right thing for your family, I will tell you so honestly.
